Kelly Cox MD, FACEP

Dr. Cox, who became an EPSS partner in 2015 as the medical director of UnityPoint Health – Pekin, graduated from New York Medical College in 1999. While completing his emergency medicine training, he served as chief resident in Emergency Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Dr. Cox is board certified in Emergency Medicine and currently works for EPSS in Emergency Medicine and as the Director of Organizational Development. Dr. Cox serves as the Senior Medical Director for Air Evac EMS, Inc. and is certified in Just Culture by Outcome Engenuity.

During his career as Senior Medical Director and time spent in Emergency Departments, Dr. Cox has developed a passion for improving teamwork, leadership development and organizational alignment. Dr. Cox enhances the overall EPSS experience by bringing his expertise to provide training that promotes hospital teamwork. Dr. Cox believes passionately that “through collaboration and teamwork, organizations will achieve the best results”. He has partnered with organizations such as the University of Illinois-Peoria and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Harvard-Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency, to conduct multiple research studies. His additional areas of research and study involve airway management, emergency medical services/pre-hospital care, simulator education, aeromedicine, and EMS research.
